Donations to charity: 12 Tax Tips of Christmas

Thinking about donating to charity this Christmas? Donations to charity from individuals are tax-free. You can get tax relief if you donate through Gift Aid or, through Payroll Giving, straight from your wages or pension.

Donations to registered charities or amateur community sports clubs are deductible from the profit of your company. Your company can donate money, equipment or stock.

If you have a charity sponsorship arrangement, you can only claim for this if the charity:

  • Publicly supports your products or services

  • Allows you to use their logo in your printed material

  • Allows you to sell your goods or services at their events or premises

  • Links from their website to yours
