We understand that this is a difficult time for everyone, particularly our clients with small businesses.
The government have announced plans to support businesses, but not everyone is eligible, including sole traders and partnerships that commenced trading after 5th April 2019.
Many of these will have been unsure on starting a business and will have given this a great deal of thought before investing their time, energy and money into this.
These people should be encouraged, not penalised.
For those clients that we have taken on this year, that are now in this position we will be reimbursing fees paid to date and we will in due course complete the 5th April 2020 tax return and accounts, covering the cost of this ourselves.
We would encourage all other accountants to do the same.
